Temple and Spaceship Corridor

I completed the Temple and I am not that happy with the way it turned out. The modeling is great but the compositing (I made a couple of changes), background and materials are what I am not happy about. Those changes will be for he weekend along with the Ocean Scene.

The Spaceship Corridor is coming along with the bulkhead walls finished (for now) and an array modifier added.

Edit: Just noticed the Vignette is missing from this render, I am going to have to fix this.

Temple Part 05

I completed part 1 of the Temple tutorial last night and as it turns out the problem I was having with the roof tiles was not a problem at all. The tiles were showing up on the roof but in different orientations for each side of the roof and I was perplexed. I decided to wait, see what he was going to do because things looked different on my computer, try his way or a work around I came up with. As it turns out, my ‘work around’ was actually the way he ended up completing the process. ๐Ÿ™‚

So, part 1 is complete and on to part 2 this morning (1:45am again), sky and a light set up so I could get a first look at the cycles render. Here are two pictures showing an internal render with temporary lights set up and a screen shot starting part 2.

ย Temporary Lights, no textures (Blender Internal)

Starting Part 2, rendering with Cycles. I am actually a little bit farther than this but forgot to take a screen shot before left for work this morning.

Temple Part 03a

No new pictures for you today as the image is very similar to yesterday. I added some architectural features on the top, added an additional top slab so it looks a little like a sandwich (you will see what I mean when I post again with a new picture). The architectural features were placed between the upper and lower parts of the roof. I’m sorry but you will have to wait and see. ๐Ÿ™‚

Note: Tonight I am going to install the 30 trial of Maya 2013 ๐Ÿ™‚ to play only. 30 days does not seem long enough.

Temple Part 02

As you can see in this screen shot there is not much different from yesterday. This is the first time using duplifaces and his explanation of what they are and how they work was a little confusing. I will do better tonight with listening and hopefully understanding what he is saying.

Last night I also downloaded the 30 day trial version of Maya 2013 for looking at / experimenting with and no I do not plan on purchasing a $4000.00 program, I just want the experience with this application.

Ocean Scene Part 2

Getting close to the final render. Here is the scene, in cycles as shown in the view port. Compositing is next with the final render tomorrow or the next day

ย

I know the scene is a little noisy right now but I captured the screen shot at only 18 out of 35 samples. I will do the final render with the ocean planes at a resolution of 20, 16 and 12 with 2000 samples. That should yield a good render going into compositing.

Ocean Scene Part 1

I started this new tutorial last night, an ocean scene from CG Cookie

The background is a texture applied to a cylinder. I will combine the processes shown by Johnathan Williamson for the ocean and background and those of Andrew Price when it comes to the compositing and lighting. The rendering will be done using the cycles rendering engine. I am crossing my fingers that it turns out the way in envision itย  ๐Ÿ™‚

Creating a Battery

As I said yesterday, I completed a tutorial from Johnathan Williamson creating a battery in blender, rendering in Lux Render.

I have not had any experience with Lux Render so I elected to use the Cycles render engine within Blender 2.63. Cycles does not have the default materials Lux Render has but I was able to create a semi-realistic copper material for the top. I think the results are acceptable ๐Ÿ™‚
