I found a place

After looking at The Edge, a couple in Broken Arrow I found a place not on my list. On the way home Wednesday looking at a couple very nice places in rather huge apartment complexes I notices a smaller complex just before we made the turn to get on the freeway. It is called Stonehaven Villas and they had a nice one bedroom for 671.00/month. This would be close to 850.00 per month less than I pay now. I will be able to start saving some serious money, close to 1000.00/1100.00 per month.

Need a change

I decided to make a drastic change in my life. I am going to move form Owasso, OK to Downtown Tulsa, OK.

I have always wanted to live downtown and this is an opportunity for me to fulfill a dream. I only need to sign a year lease to learn what it is like and if I prefer the burbs I’ll move again in a year.

I found a nice place yesterday call ‘The Edge’. They started leasing in June and look very nice but I decided to take at least a month to look around and then decide.

I think I may have mentioned a bit ago that after spending ~8 years working on paying off debts including all of my hospital bills from the heart attack, left over credit cards from my marriage and other stupid credit cards I applied for and was approved so I can reestablish my credit, after taking care of all of that I now have zero debt and a credit score of 0, ‘F’, very poor. How freaking stupid is that. To make a long story short, I decided to try shooting for the moon and I applied for an American Express Gold card, not expecting anything to come of it and lo and behold I was approved! I get my new card in a day or so and will use it to pay rent at the hotel. When they charge my card I will pay it off within a day or two. I got the AMEX card because it is a ‘Charge’ card and not a ‘Credit’ card. I want nothing to do with Credit ever again.

Working out

I have been continuing to work out with 5lbs gone I think it may be starting to work. Creating a new item within my daily/weekly routine is harder than it would seem. Everyone has only so much time during a day, 24 hours to be exact and mine is pretty full as it is. The fitbit has helped in adding a couple hours to accommodate the workout and other activities I am working on including the book. I have not posted chapters yet because I have been adding more content ideas and I add to each of these sections as ideas pop into my head. However I will post a final table of contents this week marking the starting point.

Back to working out. I started with settings on the Total Gym I thought were ok but turned out to be much to high for me at the time. Even though working out on the Total Gym is easy and working through each exercise is quite easy it takes time to learn the routine. The first week was frustrating and I got in three workouts during the week. The next week was easier but I stuck with three again as this is what the videos recommended, those days were Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Last week I did three with a small one for good measure, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and four days off. This week I plan on four on and three off. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Two days off (Saturday and Sunday) then back to the same routine. I think this is the one I will stick to. I don’t need to look at the exercise list anymore so things to pretty quick and with the quickness comes additional exercises.

Minecraft

Being a diehard fan of DOOM II, the old low resolution version, I can’t believe I have not played Minecraft before. The weekend before last I was poking around Amazon.com and found a trinket called Gameband. It has Minecraft already loaded, saves your status to their servers and being stand alone you can plug it into any USB on any computer and play as if you are on your home computer (wish they had one for DOOM II as well). I had Minecraft on my phone since it came out but never really got into it until I started playing it on my PC that weekend. Boy did I become hooked. I plug in at work in the morning and grab a fix, grab another fix at lunch and when I get home it is game on!

I can understand how the game sucks you in with the great sound effects as you are walking through some of the caves with monsters lurking around you. The great view you get climbing that mountain you were looking at this morning even though the resolution is what it is the sun rises and sets look great to.

I created my first home base within a ravine and build my house in between the small hills on either side. Behind me was rock and areas to explore and I thought this was a good place to keep camp.

I created a crafting table, made some a stone sword, axe and pickaxe, with these I started on a little expedition. Upon finding some chickens, sheep and pigs running around I started finding ways to catch and kill them for food. After a bit of chasing I soon realized I was lost. What a horrible feeling and it is only a game! To make a long story short night time came and I was overwhelmed by the mobs….

The next thing I know I’m back at my starting point, no sword, axe or pickaxe. Nothing…. time to start over.. Let us go looking for our house.

To be continued…..

PC Problems

Not exactly PC problems but problems during updating. Not any problems with a windows update but an error with Wifi connection during Visual Studio update causing errors. Some errors are harder than others but a Google search always finds someone with the same problem 🙂

Shape it up

Getting in shape, that is what has been on my mind lately. I have been at the top of my game at work and then at the bottom of my game when I get home. Laziness and procrastination has taken over my life at home and I now plan on putting a stop to it.

I had a revelation of sorts a couple of weeks ago when I was thinking about getting into loosing this weight I have gained and getting into shape. I am not the sort of person that enjoys going to a gym and hated cardio therapy though I had to do it. In my thoughts I am always self conscience and think everyone is looking and me, I know this is not the case but my inner self believes it to be. With this in mind, about three weeks ago, laying in bed the thought came to me. I don’t know where it came from because I was not thinking about exercise or getting into shape at the time but my thoughts went to The Total Gym. Yes, the one advertised on TV early in the morning and late at night. I thought to myself, you can do that in the privacy of your home and looks easy to do without a trainer.

I bit the bullet and purchased the XLS and was surprised how expensive it was. I was thinking three or four hundred. It was 799.00 the first time I looked. The next time I looked 2999.00, third time 999.00. I then went online and had a chat with a sales person and she gave it to me for 799.00 plus the ab crunch accessories which I won’t need just yet.

The unit showed up in 2 weeks fully assembled but was a workout just getting it out of the box and set up properly (I am very out of shape). I watched some YouTube review videos and the Setup video it came with and these had be rather excited. I then watch the first workout video to get a feel for the routine and started the next day. It really felt good to sweat like that but I was still clumsy changing from exercise to exercise.

Now I am getting use to the routine, getting sore in a good way and I believe I will start seeing the results soon.

I am taking pictures of this transformation and will show the results as my confidence and progress improve over time.
On a side note, I have been able to stop my blood pressure medication and keep that under control with diet so far and after just a couple days on the Total Gym had noticed a decrease in my blood pressure and heart rate throughout the day. This I feel is a great effect as well.

Wish me luck!

Mechanical Hard Drives are more robust than the new SSD’s

It came as a surprise to me last week, after a little more than a year I had to replace my Surface Pro 3 because the (Solid State Drive) SSD failed. I have multiple computers four, five and six times that age and the old mechanical hard drives are still going strong. Needless to say I spent the last half of the week and the entire weekend loading the new computer with software, completing the task this morning (Monday 6-6-2016). This also means I was not able to pump out a first chapter for the book, however I will put out a forward of sorts plus an outline of the chapters this week as a teaser.
